Shortly after the official cancellation by the organizers of the Agility World Championship 2020, judge Jan Egil Eide from Norway commented on the cancellation. However, he is unsurprisingly about the cancellation due to the development in the world. He also welcomes the decision to create equal and fair conditions for everyone if the tournament is held once. This comforted him even though he had missed the opportunity to host a tournament of this size. The Norwegian is currently at home with his family and dogs.
Statement Jan Egil Eide
No AWC2020. Due the circumstances in the world, this decision was expected. I have been many times at the AWC; as competitor, as team-assistant and as supporter.
AWC needs to be for everyone, otherwise not good. This we already tried. Therefor I think this decision is a good one. What about the judge ? Thanks for asking, the judge is good. I am healthy, I enjoy my time at home in the countryside with my dogs. I get to do some training myself with App and I also do seminars from home. So life is good :). And I believe we have a lot of amazing stuff waiting for us, we just have to take care of this virus first.Maybe I will judge AWC next year, or the year after, or never, who knows. Thats ok, I believe it will be good anyway. And its not my decision, far more clever people than me will decide. Big shoutout to my friends in Estonia, I know you already put a lot of work into AWC2020. Lets hope it was not for nothing, that the world will be invited to AWC in Estonia another time. One door closes, another opens. I am exited to see what future will bring. Lets do our best. Stay safe.
