The World Agility Open 2021 announced the postponement of the event yesterday. Instead of the scheduled 13th to 16th of May, the tournament will now take place from 7 to 10 October. The venue remains the KNHS equestrian centre in Ermelo in the Netherlands. A reason for the postponement is not given in the official announcement. However, the reason for the decision is likely to be the tense Covid-19 situation. According to the comments, the early announcement of the postponement is well received by World Agility Open competitors and fans.
The World Agility Open has been held since 2011. The tournament sees itself as an unofficial World Championship, which is basically open to any team. An event founded by Agility Athletes for Agility Athletes and not under the FCI or another association. Accordingly, there is also a separate, adapted set of rules for the event. In addition to national selection criteria, the winners of the FCI Agility World Championship, European Open, FCI Agility Championship of the Américas y el Caribe, the All-Around winners from the prior year’s IFCS Agility Championships, and the three medal winners in each height division from the prior year’s World Agility Open Biathlon and Individual Pentathlon will be invited according to the official informations.
