AWC 2022

Update of the Agility World Championship medal table

A few weeks have passed since the last Agility World Championships in Austria. Time to take a closer look at the updated medal table. There was a change at the top that had become apparent over the past few years. In addition to the change at the top, another country has gained six places in the ranking. And last but not least, a country wins the first medal ever.

Germany overtakes France in the medal table, making it the most successful Agility nation at all past World Championships. The results in the European Open and many international tournaments are now definitely reflected in the medal table too. Seven of the total of 19 gold medals come from the last two World Championships in Austria and Finland. An impressive record that no other nation can match. This is despite the fact that Austria actually goes down for France in the history books, as a successful tournament too. A gold medal and a silver medal go to the account of the French. Small consolation: After all, they still have a total of 3 more medals – just less golden ones.

The second high-flyer, climbing six places in the ranking, is Hungary. Like France, the country wins a gold and a silver medal. Is this already due to the improved infrastructure, like the DogFlow Arena as example? Who knows. In any case, the country overtakes the nations of Estonia, Norway, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia and Canada and is now in 20th place. The first gold medal and silver medal join the existing two silver medals and one bronze medal.

Greece is brand new in the medal table. This after winning the Large Team competition. The country now shares 25th place with Canada and Croatia. All three countries have been able to win a gold medal in the 20-year history of all previous World Championships so far. There were no changes in ranking for the remaining nations that left Austria with precious metals. These included the Czech Republic, Italy, Brazil, Great Britain, host country Austria, Finland and Spain.

The updated medal table can be found below. In the coming days we will also recap the medal table for the 2022 World Championships.
