World Agility Open 2022

The World Agility Open will also switch to five size classes from 2022 on

The World Agility Open have announced that they will also introduce five size categories from 2022. The decision is based on data from the last 10 years that has been collected and evaluated. The aim of the change is to give all dogs of all sizes access to the competition and to encourage them. In the past, this was particularly problematic for the smaller breeds.

250mm for dogs 320mm and under (12.60″)
300mm for dogs 380mm and under (14.96″)
400mm for dogs 440mm and under (17.32″)
500mm for dogs 500mm and under (19.69″)
600mm for dogs over 500mm (19.69″)

According to the data, most of the dogs from the last 10 years were in a height range of 260mm to 560mm. Thanks to the new categories, the jump height between the height areas is reduced to approximately 60mm. Previously it was at least 100mm to 120mm. Another important aspect was that due to the changes, no obstacles have to be converted, and can continued to be used unchanged. A country can send 3 dogs per size category. The extent to which further regulations are affected by the change will be communicated further after the Word Agility Open 2021 in October. Also with regard to the qualifications, which are carried out in some countries in which the World Agility Open has a higher priority.
