On Saturday one of two annual meetings of the FCI delegates from the member countries took place. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the delegates only met online. The first results of the meeting are now seeping through, as can be seen from a contribution by the Russian FCI delegate Grisha Grechkin. The corona virus was then also one of the points that had to be discussed. Also in the current year the reports of canceled tournaments and qualifications for the World Championship are increasing. However, it is still believed and hoped that the situation will improve by September and that it is possible to hold the World Championship in Estonia from 23 to 26 September. A definitive decision is to be made in May. Until then the FCI has given the organizers the green light. A possible alternative date was also discussed if, contrary to expectations, it cannot be carried out in September. Then they would try to hold the tournament in December in Estonia. This option has not yet been confirmed by the organizers.
In addition, the European Open 2022 in Belgium was confirmed, contrary to the wishes of this year’s organizers from Portugal. After announcing that they would not be able to hold the European Open, the Junior Open Agility World Championship and the Border Collie Classics this year, they wrote in a statement that they were interested in a postponement of all three events to 2022. The proposal was announced at the same time as the cancellation was published, without prior agreement. The Junior Open Agility World Championship will not take place in Portugal either. This will take place in Finland, as originally planned in 2019. At that time, Corona caused the first major rejection. Comprehensive information should be officially published by the delegates of the member countries in the coming days.
