Swiss Agility Cup 2020: Martin Eberle, Tamara Sedlmaier and Evelyne von Riedmatt are the “Corona winners”

The Swiss Agility Cup 2020 could be held despite the uncertain situation due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic. Despite strict measures, the tournament was still a complete success and the final was as exciting as in previous years. The only downer was the few foreign participants. Martin Eberle wins relatively clearly with Jasper in front of his friend Silvan Zumthurm and Penny in the Large tournament. While Tamara Sedlmaier wins the medium tournament once again, while there was a surprise for the small dogs with Evelyne von Riedmatt and Papillon Roncalli as winner.

First Claudia Schwab and Sia had a clean run on the artificial ground in Fräschels. While the first people were already wondering whether this time would last to the end, Corinne Schaub Fryand ended all further speculations with a clean run with Braveheart. She set another better time and took the lead by 0.07 seconds. This lasted almost to the end and defied, among other competitors, Christiane Fischbach’s runs. Until Martin Eberle and Jasper were at the start. The two undercut the time again by another 1.34 seconds. Only his partner Silvan Zumthurm remained at the start with Penny. Despite an almost perfect run, it was only enough for second place. 0.44 seconds back was clearly too much.

In the Medium tournament, a lot teams failed on the course of the German judge Alex Beitl with a lot of temptations. Not so Tamara Sedlmaier with You, who is not on top of the podium of the Swiss Agility Cup for the first time. With 4.47 seconds, the lead over the second-placed Swiss team Cinthia Caltabiano and Sheltie Thalia was more than clear. It got strange with third place, which looked like the sure winner up to two jumps before the finish line. Vincent Cuénoud and Kelpie Eris were on course for victory with the best intermediate time when they both suffered a little mishap shortly before the end. Vincent Cuénoud lost sight of Eris for the breath of a second and thus negotiated a refusal. With a lot of luck, he was at least able to manage to finish third.

An unusually large number of teams fell victim to the temptations in the Small final. The big favorite Claudia Schwab with Mitch as well as Sandra Kaiser and Zazou. In the qualification runs, both of them mostly agreed on the first places among themselves. Some benefited from it, who were not really expected to be on the podium. Evelyne von Riedmatt and Papillon Roncalli won the tournament ahead of Nadine Bührer with Jive. The two also remain the only ones in the classification who passed the finish line without a mistake. The third-placed Alexandra Lucchi with Rap ran the best time but also got five fault points on the account.
