I am very happy for the discussion about the flat tunnel. I think it is very useful. However, I am very amazed how everyone talks about the rule that a judge has to build a flat tunnel at FCI events. I would like to ask where I can find this rule. In the Agility regulations, there is written: “An agility course is built using many types of obstacles as possible.” This sentence has been here for several periods and only now is this sentence given a new interpretation, or more precise interpretation. This means that there is a change in the rules, or more precise interpretation. But we have regulations, respective guidelines, where we can do that. However, these can be changed every 5 years, for interpretations once every 2.5 years. It follows from the above that the FCI commission cannot make such a decision at all. As far as I know, proposals for guideline changes are being collected and one of the proposals is to supplement the rules with this interpretation.
At the same time I find it quite unusual that when I applied to be an EOJ judge, this “new” rule did not apply at all. Therefore, I do not find it right to add new conditions to already approved judges. I can say for myself that I will not use a flat tunnel for the EOJ 2020. I can’t even imagine that I could build it. After all, the wind conditions may change, the weather may change in a moment during one run and suddenly the conditions for each competitor will be different and as a judge I cannot allow according to the guidelines!
We tried to draw attention to this immediately after this decision of the FCI Commission. We addressed it to the FCI agility committee management, which was signed by a large number of judges judging EOJ 2019, EOJ2020, EO 2019, EO2020, AWC2019. But the leader of the FCI committee said that the judges were unable to reach the committee and the letter did not reach the members.
I know that the FB discussions have no value, as well as any comments of members of FCI agility committee, nor chairmen or vice-chairmen on any meeting of judges, in any FB group. Only the FCI committee can make decisions. Thus, any interpretations of the rules published at any judges meeting, in any FB group, are unfortunately only the personal opinion of one person. Same as this whole my article
