Old meets young. This is how you can describe the latest announcement from the Belgian organizers of the AWC and JOAWC 2024. Shortly after the announcement that the JOAWC would be held next year, there was further news that should particularly please everyone over 55 years old. There will be a World Championship for seniors for the first time in 2024. The event will be held under the title Senior Open Agility World Championship from 18. til 21. July 2024.
Two categories are planned. One for all starters aged 55 to 65 and one for everyone over 65. The whole thing will take place during the Junior Open Agility World Championship in Sentower Park. The underground is sand. The first year should serve as a small test. If the format proves successful, it would be carried out every year. The idea is already extremely popular, at least on social media. Further details about the rules and the process will be available in the near future. However, it will be closely based on the format of the Junior Open Agility World Championship. As a result, the tournament should also be open to mixed breeds.
