Janakkala Open 2023: Finnish-Estonian duel in Turenki

Every year it is a small pearl in the Agility calendar. We’re talking about the Janakkala Open in Turenki, Finland. Almost traditionally, the majority of Finland’s neighboring countries duel among themselves. That was the case again this year. Three of the five titles go to the neighboring countries of Estonia and Sweden. Otherwise, the Estonians in particular were well represented on the podium. In the Large tournament, the still young team Kaisa Tamm and Border Collie Kyoto won their first international tournament. In front of Laura Sutinen with Jari and Maija Anttolainen with Maj-Lis.

In the Intermediate tournament there is the only podium place outside of Finland and Estonia. Isabelle Orenius and Prem win ahead of Keida Raamat and Dora. Prem recently ran on the podium at the Border Collie Classics in Poland with Jouni Orenius. The team will also compete for Sweden at the Nordic Championships next weekend. Third is Valtteri Pennanen with Eve. In the Medium tournament there was the second win for Estonia. Elen Kivi-Paju and Ronja take first place. Compatriot Kaisa Tsäro and Zemi are third while Einari Pekkala is second with Papu.

In the Small competition there was the only Finnish double victory. Iida Vakkuri with Helka won ahead of Sanni Kariniemi with Megs and Keida Raamat with My. This is her second time on the podium in this final. Sanni Kariniemi is also on the podium two times with the victory in the Extra Small category. She wins ahead of Papillon Berke with Mariann Rebane and Miina Hakala with Moona. The popular tournament will also be held again in 2024.
