In addition to the increasing number of tournament cancellations in 2021, there is also a positive news to report for once. Even if only for the moment. The organizers of the International Sheltie Competition in the Netherlands currently see no reason to cancel the event. One reason for this is that the event is scheduled for the end of November. According to expectations, the situation should normalize by then and travel should be possible again. Nevertheless, a deadline has been set in the organizing committee, on which a definitive decision will be made whether it will be held or if it will be canceled. Together with everyone who is involved into the tournament, like the nearby campsite, the venue, the judges and the sponsors, the first week in August has been decided.
The International Sheltie Competition, also known as the World Sheltie Championship, will take place from November 5th to 7th in Laag Soeren, the Netherlands. The same place as in 2015. This means that they are switching back to sand, from the last tournament back in 2019 in Switzerland with artificial turf. The Manege de Spreng riding arena is right next to the Veluwezoom National Park. As judges are Alex Beitl from Germany, Tamas Traj from Hungary and from the host country Mark Fonteijn and Michiel Lazeroms invited. Before that, it is planned to offer seminars with international athletes. The names are not yet known at this point.
