Germany has grown by another new dog sports hall. Last weekend, the Hundesporthalle Westerwald in Höhr-Grenzhausen was officially inaugurated and opened after a 7-month construction period. Next weekend, the first official tournament follows. The hall, which lies in the idyllic Westerwald between the two major cities of Cologne and Frankfurt, measures a good 30 x 50 meters. Equipped with state-of-the-art Juta artificial turf, heating, a little restaurant and new equipment from Galican, the hall is to establish itself in the German dog sport. Initiator of the project is the couple Weiler and Agility trainer Petra Locher.
The new sports venue on the Moorsberg is next to a existing football stadium and a tennis hall practically surrounded by a forest area. This provided in the beginning of the project for some discussion and light delaying, as the hall is in a worthwhile forest pract. After several talks and further explanations, the project started and was built as planned within 7-months. The bureaucratic flow in the beginning took at least that long before the hall can be handed over next weekend to Agility teams.
