In a press release from the city of Kalmar, published a few minutes ago, it was announced that the FCI had given them the tender to hold the 2025 World Agility Championship for Sweden again. One of the main reasons for the renewed tender to Kalmar and Sweden was the successful World Championship in 2018 in Kristianstad, which set new standards. Especially when it came to broadcasting the tournament in the living room with a professional broadcast and live commentators. Beside that there was mostly only positive feedback. Another important component in the selection was the strong support from the city of Kalmar. Also during the Agility World Championship in 2018 they received already support from the local gouvernement. Kalmar goes the same way and has assured full support for the project in 2025.
In July of this year, the Swedish championships took place in Kalmar too. And in the future, they would like to support other larger Agility events in Kalmar, which are intended to attract both national and international guests. Above all, with the necessary infrastructure. To this end, the municipality and the Kalmar region work closely with the local Agility clubs. One of these tournaments is the Guldagility, which was actually planned for this year already, but had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic. The World Championship will take place from October 3rd to 6th in the ice rink in Kalmar and would therefore be a welcome additional source of income for the tourism outside the season.
