Big community fundraising campaign for destroyed hall after weather damage

Heavy snowfall has hit large parts of central and southern Europe in recent days. In the northern lowlands of Italy in the regions of Lombardy, Piemont and Liguria fell up to 20 centimetres of snow. It was the first time in many years that so much snow fell in these areas. In addition to traffic chaos, there was also major damage to buildings that collapsed under the snow masses or caused damage. The tragic fate was also suffered by the Italian agility athlete Veronica Odone. When she visited her hall on the morning of December 28, a picture of destruction emerged. The metal beams and the tent tarpaulins could no longer withstand the weight of the snow masses. After the first big shock, the first ray of hope appeared only a little bit later.

It is particularly tragic that Veronica Odone inaugurated the hall this summer. Since then various seminars have taken already place, among others with Marusa Podjed, Tereza Pospechova Kralova or Tamas Traj. After assessing the damage, the crushed Italian also shared her feelings in a Facebook post to her friends: «This 2020 will be remembered for many things. All my sacrifices are under there. But it will start again, after having cried and cursed and shoveling incessantly for hours, somehow it will start again.» And this post quickly reached hundreds of people within the Agility community. The sympathy and pity was so high that a fundraising campaign was launched on Facebook to rebuild the tent and replace some of the destroyed obstacles. After just a few hours, from the required 15,000 euros were already 5,500 euros donated. Every euro counts for the reconstruction – even smaller amounts. You still can donate under this link.
