In the end, Germany wins. That’s how it was today again. The second medal ceremony was in the Large tournament, after an exciting duel between the Germans and the Italians. Germany started the decision as the second-to-last team. The first starter was Nadine Alshut with Cinna. Dropping the pole early increased the pressure on the remaining team members. However, they remained clean and also achieved the usual fast times. This put Italy under enormous pressure. So they not only had to do clean runs, but also fast ones.
The experienced Martina Magnoli Klimesova started well and also quickly. Giacomo Biancalani then caught a refusal in the middle of the course. A place in Anders Virtanen’s course that has already been the downfall of several teams. This meant that the so-called Joker Run was already used up after the second runner. Now all the barrels had to be in place. Nicola Giraudi, who is also not less experienced, kept his nerve and ran quickly and clean. The final runner, Veronica Odone, also seemed to bring her run home safely. Only a few obstacles before the end she caught a refusal in front of the wall. With that the title was gone. Thanks to the fast time and the lead from the first run, they secured second place ahead of Switzerland.
For the Swiss, this team medal marks the end of a long dry spell. The joy of this medal, for which they fought hard, should be all the greater. Silvan Zumthurm also got a early pole, the second runner Nathalie Brunner had a refusal and a dogwalk fault. By then, Switzerland’s medal dreams were probably almost dashed. Yannick Boutellier and Alice Laforge both put in two impressive runs under high pressure and secured the third place. The Japanese caused a little surprise with third place in the team Agility run. This with only 3 team members and therefore no joker run. The fastest running time today was secured by Team USA, which played no role in the rankings. Jessica Ajoux and Hallelujah ran a time of 37.68s, far ahead of everyone else.
