AWC 2023: France’s resurgence in Large Individual Jumping

Max Sprinz from Germany wins the Large Individual Jumping ahead of Sebastien Venat and Martina Magnoli Klimesova. But it was anything but clear that this time the German flag would appear at the top of the podium again. Nadine Alshut with Cinna and Mona Grefenstein with Sea tried this in vain. Both reached the finish with fast runs without mistakes, but it wasn’t enough to make it to the top. Nadine is 23rd and Mona is 8th. The French played the music at the front for a long time.

Jeremy Chomienne became the first Frenchman to take the lead early on. Before he was replaced by Veronika Králiková from Slovakia after just a few starts. Her leadership should not last long either. The current World Large Champion Kevin Odile with Move took the lead back for France. He set the first time under 35 seconds. And that time lasted for a long, very long time. Only compatriot Sebastien Venat with Tekoa beat this by a further 0.24 seconds. And his lead would last until almost the very end. A satisfaction for France after a difficult World Championship so far.

For Martina Magnoli Klimesova, who now lives in Italy, the podium in her home country of the Czech Republic should be even more special. But Italy also had a brief moment of shock after Nicola Giraudi fell violently and landed unluckily on the back of his head. We wish him a speedy recovery at this point.
