AWC 2022

AWC 2022 will have Smart-99 obstacles and electronic contact dogwalk

In a Facebook post, the organizers of the Agility World Championship 2022 in Schwechat, Austria, announced that the obstacles will be set by the German manufacturer Smart-99. It was also announced in the same post that they would like to support the judges with an electronic dog walk. This has electrical sensors in the down contact zone, which, when touched, gives the judge a signal with a vibrating bracelet whether the dog has touched the contact zone or not.

In the last four World Championships, the obstacles were set by the Spanish manufacturer Galican. Smart-99 was founded in 1999 and is now one of the oldest manufacturers. The reason the company was founded back then was due to the rapid development and increasing speed in Agility sports. A development that was largely ignored by the manufacturers back then. To counteract this, Smart-99 was created by the Swiss Maurice Jud. With the aim of creating obstacles that are as qualitative as possible, with a focus on the safety and health of the dogs. A goal that has remained until this day.
