Shortly before the end of the year, Jean-Paul Petitdidier, one of the founders of today’s Agility, passed away. The Frenchman not only shaped the national scene, but also set international accents in 1989 as the first President of the FCI Agility Commission, thus paving the way for modern sport. In France, too, he was always regarded as a driving and innovative force.
In 1988, for example, he created the first Agility rules in France and in the same year he helped organize the first national championships in France. Another major milestone in his work was the founding of the CNEAC (Dogsport Comission) within the French Kennel Club. One of his most important concerns was always that the sport should be open to all dog breeds. This was one reason why he campaigned particularly hard in France for the fourth size class for particularly large and heavy dog breeds. This rule, although never officially adopted by the FCI, has long been part of the national regulations in France.
We wish the family and relatives a lot of strength during this difficult time.
