The two neighboring countries Finland and Sweden have five size categories for several years already. Norway is now following them and will introduce two additional size categories with a revised set of rules in 2022. The category of extra-small (XS) for dogs with a height at the withers below 28cm and the one for large dogs between 43cm and 50cm. There were also a number of other small changes. The soft tunnel and the up contact zones are also no longer to be found in the rules, analogous to the FCI rules currently being worked out for the year 2023.
Size categories and jumping heights Norway
- Extra Small (XS): Height at the withers less than 28cm / Jump height: 10-20cm
- Small (S): Height at the withers under 35cm / Jump height: 20cm-30cm
- Medium (M): Height at the withers over 35cm until 43cm / Jump height: 30-40cm
- Large (L): Height at the withers over 43cm until 50cm / Jump height: 40-50cm
- Extra Large (XL): Height at the withers over 43cm / Jump height: 50cm
The changes met with great enthusiasm among the broad Agility community in Norway and, according to many, were long overdue. These are to come into force from January 2022. The changes were made by the Agility commitee of Norway in cooperation with the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK). A revised IT solution is also planned to be presented during the current year for registering for competitions, registering dogs and many more things.
