In Finland, the Janakkala Open took place last weekend in the small town of Turenki, which is about halfway between Helsinki and Tampere. Not least because of the corona pandemic, as in the previous year, there were slightly fewer international teams at the start. The Janakkala Open is a popular tournament in Finland, Estonia and Sweden. Tuuli Vaino from Estonia was the only one classified on the podium who did not come from Finland. She had to admit defeat in the Medium tournament by Maija Isokangas with Hedda. Third is Riikka Aalto with Halla. In the Large tournament, Mikko Aaltonen repeated his previous year’s victory with Syke. Before Heidi Annala with Kupi and Riikka Aalto with Sinna. In the Small tournament there were only two classified with Anu Turku with Mauno on first place and and Terhi Tuneberg with Tane in second place.
Unlike the national rules, the final of the Janakkala Open takes place with only three size categories. As is currently the case internationally. Shortly after the end of the event, a new edition for the year 2022 has already been announced. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 5th to 7th. The Janakkala Open is one of the few tournaments that was largely spared from the corona pandemic and so far has not had to cancel an event.
