Swiss Agility National Championship 2020: Almost all three of the previous year’s winners managed to defend their titles

Last year’s winners were almost repeated at the 2020 Swiss Agility Championship. Only Sandra Loosli missed the title defense. Even if, with rank 2 just barely. The new Swiss Agility Champion in Large is Corinne Schaub Fryand with Braveheart. Silvan Zumthurm with Idy and Claudia Schwab with Mitch can defend the title from last year. Claudia Schwab also placed third on the podium with Sia in the Large tournament.

Claudia Schwab and Sia only classified 17th after the Jumping today, despite a clean run. This shows impressively how tight it is meanwhile in the front field. Accordingly, she had to take a lot of risk in the Agility run. All or nothing in the true sense of the word. And she actually managed to have a clean Agility run with the absolute best time. Almost half a second ahead of second-placed Corinne Schaub Fryand and Braveheart. But in the end the gap from Jumping was too big and, despite a brilliant catch-up, it was only enough for them to take third place. As in the previous year, Sandra Loosli run down her program with ease. In the first run she secured a good starting position for the second run with 8th place and a promising time. Just the latter winner Corinne Schaub Fryand secured an even better starting position with Braveheart. And she also ran as confidently in the final and wins the Swiss Agility Championship 2020 in Large. Sandra Loosli and Lane also cross the finish line without mistakes and thus secure second place. Even if it didn’t quite reach for the first place this year, the performance is more than impressive.

Silvan Zumthurm and Idy get a pretty safe victory. In the final classement, the team separated a little more than six seconds from second place. Mirjam Ehrat and Flynn grabbed this. A team that has often stood in the same place in the past, but then mostly missed a safe podium with a lot of bad luck in the last deciding run. Not so today. The two fought their way through the course of the Italian judge Lorenzo Celic and thus secured second place with the sixth-best time. The best time in the Agility run was also secured by the winners Silvan Zumthurm and Idy ahead of his second dog Sheltie Fly. Without a mistake from Jumping it would have been enough to secure a double victory for him. Manuela Pfister and Giny, the 2017 winner, went third. Jeannine Gloor and Sheltie Why Not caused a moment of shock with a big crash on a jump, which luckily turned out to be mild. More about this on our Instagram channel.

Claudia Schwab and Mitch’s victory this year was not entirely undisputed. The seesaw in the decisive Agility run was generously rated by the Italian judge, as we could see and hear about the reaction from the audience on site in Fräschels. Nevertheless, of course, the judge’s decision applies. And so the high-flyer secured another safe title with Sheltie Mitch. Second was the newly married Sabrina Cuthbert with Sheltie Kinja, who completed her Agility run in a stoic calm. Impressive. The third-placed team is also not less impressive. Adrian Widmer and Boston Terrier Dali. A team that has been getting the best possible out of it for years now and which has consistently good results.
